AWANA
The staff and volunteers of First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill welcome your child(ren) to an exciting year in our AWANA program. It is our desire to reach children with the Gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him. |
Formal Flag Ceremony Our clubs will begin each club meeting with a formal flag ceremony and prayer. This creates an attitude of cooperation and unity that sets a high standard for the rest of the club meeting. It also provides and excellent opportunity to teach clubbers respect for their flag and country. The rest of the evening consists of three 30 minute segments. |
Club Segments
Game Time Game Time is the club segment when clubbers are involved in fun games. The games are a blast! The kids love game time! The games are designed to encourage Christian sportsmanship & teamwork. Game Time also prepares clubbers for the Awana Games Invitational. |
Council Time Bible lessons are taught by our Awana leaders and are age appropriate material to challenge each student where they are! |
Handbook Time During this segment, clubbers will work in their individual Handbooks learning and reciting sections. Each handbook contains approximately 90 verses to support Bible truths taught. Children have the opportunity to learn over 900 Scripture verses if they complete all handbooks in Cubbies through 6th grade. At FBCRH, AWANA strongly emphasizes memorizing and understanding God's Word. Psalms 119:11 says, "Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee." Our prayer is that the verses our children learn in AWANA will help them to live Christ honoring lives. |
Start Zone If a child is new to the club, the first milestone is the Entrance Booklet. Each child will receive a free copy on the first night of club. |
Handbooks After passing the Entrance Booklet,, the clubber works in the 1st handbook of their club. Handbooks should always be brought to the meetings. Without it, they have nothing to do during Handbook Time. Clubbers may receive as many as two helps in each portion of the handbook. Sections completed in the handbook must be signed by a leader in the club. |
Uniforms Clubbers should wear their uniforms to each club meeting. Uniforms develop a sense of order and unity that draw clubbers and leaders together. The uniform also provides a place for clubbers to display the Awards they earn in club, motivating them for future achievement. If your child is in the same club this year, they will continue wearing the same uniform and take up where they left off in their handbook. If they have promoted to a different club, for instance from Sparks to Truth & Training, they will begin in that club's Entrance Test and go from there to a new handbook. If uniforms are handed down to brothers or sisters, all awards must be removed. |
Club Dues Club Dues are $5.00 per quarter, August through May. (You may pay the dues for the year in the amount of $20.00 at registration if you wish). The AWANA dues go to help defray the cost for a small portion of the weekly Awards, Trophies, AWANA Store items, game supplies, etc. |
