CDD lifeflow article 4 October

Get involved with Expression!

Expression Pictures needs your help! The Concept Development Department (CDD) is breaking ground on a number of different ministries! An entirely new wing to the CDD has been opened with a number of new ministries within it's walls - Expression Pictures!

This is the new Film and Production Department. This department is not the audio/video department of CRH, which is a different department, but something different. The A/V department handles the audio and video elements of the church services and departments. Expressions is an audio/video filming department that will produce movies and video clips to enhance the church's in general or specifically within the other departments of CRH. Here is a quick Q&A to help explain Expression Pictures:

What films will Expressions Produce?
Expressions will be producing films for CRH. With the current sermon series (GPS), for instance, Expressions produced the opening video for the October 5th sermon (you can view this short film online at richmondhill.org)

How can I get more information on Expression Pictures?
Go to richmondhill.org/expressionpictures and all information on Expression Pictures will be available for you!

How can I get involved with Expression Pictures?
The best way to get involved with Expression Pictures is to sign up for a "Trial Film". A Trial Film (TF) is an General Access Pass Classification which allows you to come to open meetings and filming of an individual Expression Pictures Production (Some of these are closed sets). During this time, you are not required to do anything but watch and ask questions. You can shadow different people in different positions and see what department(s) within Expression Pictures best suit you and your passions. To sign up for a TF, go to richmondhill.org/expressionpictures and click on "Sign up for a Trial Film" button.

The times ahead are exciting and we look forward to serving with you!

CDD lifeflow article 4 September

The past couple of months, the CDD has seem some pretty
hefty expansions. Of course, from the front of the bus, you normally never see
all the commotion in the back but it has been busy! New ministries have been
birthed and expanding. People have come into the department energized by a
passion to serve. And we are continuing to pursue the desire of God for this
department. Now we come to yet another introduction! With our budding
Productions Department getting their feet wet, we will soon be producing videos
of the services initially of just Sunday morning for mainly our military
brothers. In the future, we hope to add, Sunday, Saturday, and Wednesday Night
services as well. This is priority number one for this new ministry. Yet if we
simply stopped at this fork in the road, we would be selling God short for what
I believe He wishes from CRH. We are now looking for any interested laypersons
that have a desire for scriptwriting/screenwriter. This position allows you to
create scripts that will be the backbone of future productions for use within
the walls of CRH for the purpose of spreading the Gospel! A screenwriter is a
writer who either adapts an existing work for production as a movie (initially
5 minute spots similar to Mythbusters and JUNK - to view samples, go to
richmondhill.org), or creates a new
screenplay. For this to happen, we as church leadership have developed a system
for anyone who wishes to participate in this ministry to begin immediately!
Online at richmondhill.org, under the Sermon Ministry Department, our CD
ministry has already uploaded future manuscripts of sermons. Pastor Keith
develops his manuscripts well in advance of the Sunday they are used. The main
purpose these manuscripts are online would be for anyone wishing to download
and study them below the Sunday they are preached. But we also use the
manuscripts as a springboard for everything within the CDD. That includes
screenwriting. If you have a desire to serve within the Productions Department
as a screenwriter, download a manuscript and study the sermon. See if you can
develop a small 5 minute script that would be a future production! For more
information, go to richmondhill.org and check out the CDD today!

CDD lifeflow article 4 August

Lifeflow article for the Concept Development Department - August 2008

The
other day, I downloaded a new software program I have known about for years but
have now taken the plunge into learning. The world of design and multimedia is
so grand, no one person knows it all so there is always something new to learn,
or upgrade! Unfortunately, the "beginners" manual for this new program is over
750 pages! If you don't believe me, visit my office and I will show you the six
binders it took to hold it. This seems daunting but at the same time, should I
be so surprised? We each face this same type of task every day of our lives.
Granted, it might not be a 750 page beginners manual. But each day, we wake up,
and if you are like me, you are immediately hit with a burden that is on today's
agenda. Some of these burdens are big! They can seem rather overwhelming. But
didn't our God say he would provide for us? (Matt 6: 25-33) Our objective in
life is clearly stated, "Seek first the Kingdom..." God's calling for us is a
continual one. So no wonder Satan will send distractions along the way. Not a
one of these distractions are more important than, "Seek first the Kingdom".
Many of you have come forward recently excited about different opportunities we
are now offering here in the CDD. And the opportunities are continuing to
expand! Whether it be in print, web content, video productions, drama, or
Sermon Media, to name a few, we have positions waiting for you! Technology is
ever changing and we must stay with the curve. Our motto here at the CDD is, "Communicating
Christ Creatively". To do this, we must continue changing and developing skills
to stay with our culture. Yesterday it was e-mail, today, text messaging.
Tomorrow, who knows? But for now, I need to get back to reading my "beginners"
manual. I am almost to page 100!
