Ministry Across the Ocean

March 7th, 2010 by informationmanager

Children in Iraq have no toys to play with and use a dump as their playground as it was reported by one of our members stationed in Iraq.  He is requesting small toys for the Iraqi children.  We will be collecting toys for several months to ship overseas to these children.  We need as many toys as you can give.  Some suggestions are provided below to help you.  “Gently Used” toys that are like new will be accepted as well as brand new toys.  For those who may give soccer balls, footballs, basketballs, etc. please deflate the toy balls.

List of Toys: Beanie Babies, Slinky Toys, Rubik’s Cubes, Coloring Pencils and Sharpeners, Markers, Pencils and Sharpeners, Small Etch-o-sketch Toys, Small Lego Sets (no characters), Frisbees, Soccer Balls/Playground Balls (deflated), Badminton Set, Jump Ropes, Sidewalk Chalk, Play Dough, Silly Putty, Jacks Sets, Little Pet Shops Toys, Small Stuffed Animals, Barrel of Monkeys, Memory Games (non-character specific), Matchbox Cars, Easy Jigsaw Puzzles, Rattles, Lacing Beads, Easy Craft Kits, Water Color Sets

HELP GIVE THESE KIDS A LITTLE JOY AND SHARE GOD’S LOVE WITH THEM

Thank you for your support!

Drop off your toy donations in “Our Local Mission” boxes located in the main church foyer, family life center, and in front of our Mission Wall located near the kitchen.

AWANA GAMES CANCELLED

March 3rd, 2010 by information

The AWANA games scheduled for March 13th at our church have been cancelled.   This decision was made by our area’s AWANA Missionary due to the fact that only one other church had signed up to participate and is completely out of our hands.  According to our area’s AWANA Event Coordinator, AWANA events have been way down in attendance beginning last fall, likely due to the economy.

This is no reflection on our church or our AWANA program. In fact, our AWANA program is growing like gangbusters, especially since Christmas!

ANSWERING KIDS’ QUESTIONS ABOUT GOD

ANSWERING KIDS’ QUESTIONS ABOUT GOD

MARCH 28TH

5 PM

Have you ever had a computer tech, mechanic, or some other professional explain something to you and not understand a word they said? While the “Answering Kids’ Questions about God” class is designed to help you with some specific answers, it’s also about learning how to communicate in a way that makes sense to a child. All the right answers aren’t much use if we can’t explain them in a way that makes sense.

“When can I be baptized?”

“What do I do to be save?”

“How do you know God is real?”

And more…

This class is open to anyone – parents, Sunday School teachers, AWANA leaders, VBS volunteers, etc. and is scheduled for the Sunday before Easter – March 28th – at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
